This morning we woke up to a major ant attack. It wasn't a huge suprise, truth be told, we'd seen them scouting for a couple weeks and every morning got used to some vicious ant murder. But this morning their relatiation came in full force, as they laid seige upon our sugar that sits in a glass container on the counter. Apparently swarmed, the sugar was thrown out and a full scale war broke out on the little suckers. Fortunately for me, I slept throught it all and came down to a relatively ant-free kitchen, with everything moved onto the island to stay safe.
I noticed some old bananas that were looking pretty rough and saved them from their inevitable doom by making them into some delectable muffins. Since there was no white sugar to be found, I replaced it with light brown sugar (which apparently, ants don't care that much for) and was surprised to see that it was still really good. The texture was slightly denser that usual and the tops were crunchier, which was super good. All in all, a success.
